Abstract

Methods of providing full continuity of reinforcement or anchorage of reinforcement into concrete are reviewed. The various mechanical splicing, anchoring and welding systems are described in detail, in terms of their application, load capacity, and physical features affecting installation. British and other Code of Practice requirements for lapping, splicing and full anchorage of reinforcing bars are compared.
