Abstract

Collates a history of changes to BS 5839-1 and looks at the new numbering within the 2025 version of the standard. Also considers the following topics: system categories, variations, interface placement, system components, obstacles to detectors, call points, fire alarm tones, remote indicator, alarm transmission, heat detectors, fire detectors, cabling, ceiling heights, detectors in voids, power supplies, false alarms, maintenance and repair, documentation and handover.
