Abstract
The research project explores the potential for improvement in energy and emissions within Scottish building regulations for non-domestic buildings. The 4 main tasks areas were: establishing the current baseline, creating improved notional building specifications, setting modelling options and conducting a full cost benefit analysis. Three options were suggested: low, medium and high. The low option was based on the existing highest standard, with further improvements introduced in the medium and high levels, and all three included further improvements in building services in comparison with the existing 2015 standards. The notional building will use gas heating plus PV of increased array size, with exceptions covering the use of air source heat pumps instead of PV.
