Abstract
Reports on a project which explored a systems-based approach to water management, specifically the Systems Water Management for Catchment Scale Processes (CASYWat) project. Provides background covering global context of environmental management, focus on water management and the role of systems thinking before giving context including the government's 25 environment plan, the Cumbria Catchment Pioneer, collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering and overview of the CASYWat project. Details the approach used focusing on systems thinking concepts, Systems Water Management Framework, the SYWM meta-model and case studies. Also looks at water management system maps.
