Abstract

Updates previous guidance (R170, 1997) for dam owners, engineers, specialist contractors and others responsible for the maintenance, operation and safety of pipework systems in dams. It is primarily concerned with existing reservoirs, rather than forming design guidance for new assets. Covering typical pipework, causes and modes of failure, with advice and guidance for operation, maintenance, monitoring, risk assessment, management, condition assessment, risk control measures, design considerations and implementation.
