Abstract
Provides guidance for preparing Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs) as a requirement of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009. Discusses sustainable surface water management and the flood risk management planning process, covering: consultation and co-ordination; preparatory work; understanding surface water flood risk; setting objectives; option appraisal; development of preferred option and confirmation of funding; finalising and communicating plan; implementation and monitoring of plan; reviewing and updating plan.
