Discusses use of planning conditions, highlighting: use of conditions in planning permission; power to impose conditions; six tests for conditions; need for a condition; practice by councils and the Department; conditions relating to outline planning permission; time-limit conditions on the commencement of development; conditions restricting permitted development or otherwise restricting use; temporary permissions; and further reading.

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland (DOENI) is now known as the Department for Communities (DfC).
