Abstract
Sets the context of design and engineering issues and strategies relating to designing and constructing tall buildings, looking at different types of framing systems, expanding on the performance requirements of the structural elements. Highlights the need for assessment and investigation of the ground conditions, briefly discussing issues relating to basements. Provides 12 case studies of tall buildings using concrete through a range of storey heights and construction methods.
