Abstract
Explains how use of the coring and vacuum technique can help reduce traffic congestion caused by road works whilst repairing buried apparatus. The technique has proven to be faster than conventional excavation methods, is cost effective and minimises damage to the structural integrity of the road. Agreement from the highway authority will be required as this method is not yet covered in the Specification for the reinstatement of openings in highways.
