Comprises Northern Ireland's first landscape charter for maintaining and improving the distinctness and quality of Northern Ireland's landscapes. Looks at why landscape matters, covering duties under the European Landscape Convention and also provides six guiding principles in decision making for landscapes.

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency is an agency within the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs. They were previously known as Environment and Heritage Service. They advise on and implement the Government's environmental policy and strategy in Northern Ireland, by carrying out a range of activities, which promote the Government's key themes of sustainable development, biodiversity and climate change.
