Scottish Health Technical Memorandum
Abstract
Provides guidance on fire safety standards for existing NHSScotland and other healthcare premises. It should be used to support and assist compliance with the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 as amended and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006. Applicable when upgrading existing fire precautions, and when considering fire precautions for alterations in existing healthcare buildings that require building warrant approval, or fire precautions for minor alterations not requiring a building warrant. Additionally it supports and assists the conduct of SHTM 86 fire risk assessments.
