Abstract
Permit schemes are used by Local authorities to control highway works. Establishes good design principles for the scheme, looks at different scheme types, encourages collaboration to reveal valuable lessons to be learned and offer solutions from other Local authority schemes and tries to ensure the schemes deliver value for money. Includes a checklist.
