Abstract
Provides an introduction to sound insulation in housing, looking at reasons to improve, dwelling types, remedial treatments and impacts, measuring sound insulation and noise. Applies these factors to Scottish housing by looking at housing stock, construction systems and materials, and considers the effects of noise on occupants. Examines performance of sound insulation, covering evaluation, tests and assessments. Also looks at methods for improvement, construction types, conversions and offers case studies.
