Abstract
Offers a guided approach to assessing risks to human health associated with inhalation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at contaminated land. Covers common sources, the nature of the hazard, influencing factors for the presence and for the migration of VOCs in soil gas, the effects on buildings through vapour intrusion and vapour emissions. Describes a framework for investigation, assessment and risk management and sets out a site investigation strategy and looks at remedial options.
