Abstract
Reports tests conducted in response to concerns that draft EC2 recommendations on the shear resistance of members without shear reinforcement could be unsafe. This was prompted by published results of tests of beams with limestone aggregate, for which particularly low ratios of experimental to calculated strengths were obtained, when the sections were deep and concrete strengths were high. Tests this time are performed for UK aggregates of larger maximum size, rather than smaller North American aggregates (10mm or 12.7mm).
