Abstract

Instructions are given to local highway authorities for carrying out carriageway condition surveys to the following performance indicators: BV96 - for principal roads, BV97 - for non-principal roads and BV187 - for footway condition indicators by using the deflectograph and visual survey methods. These methods can still be used during 2003/2004, however the DfT intends TRACS-type surveys (TTS) to be the only permitted option from 2004/2005.
