Abstract
Sets out the Department's planning policies for telecommunications development. Embodies the commitment to facilitate the growth of new and existing telecommunications systems whilst keeping the environmental impact to a minimum. Also addresses health issues associated with telecommunications development.
History
Will be cancelled by Strategic planning policy statement for Northern Ireland (SPPS) - planning for sustainable development (DOENI, 2015) when all eleven councils have adopted a new Plan Strategy for the whole of their council area. Policy TEL 2 is cancelled. Issued by The Planning Service an agency within the DOENI.

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland (DOENI) is now known as the Department for Communities (DfC). The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland's role was to promote sustainable development principles, responsible land use, air and water quality, and waste management, the reduction of road traffic casualties and ensure effective local government.
