Abstract

Presents guidance on the provisions in sections 77 to 80 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which affect gypsies and unauthorised campers. The Act repeals the duty of local authorities to provide and manage sites as required by the Caravan Sites Act 1968.

History

Paragraphs 6-9 replaced by DETR Circular 18/94 Amendment: Gypsy sites policy and unauthorised camping: revision of advice on "toleration" (DETR, 2000). Joint circular. Also known as Welsh Office Circular 76/94. Supersedes: DOE Circular 28/77 (Welsh Office Circular 51/77) and DOE Circular 57/78 (Welsh Office Circular 97/78). Also supersedes paragraphs 19-23 and Annex 2 DOE Circular 8/81 (Welsh Office Circular 13/81); and all of DOE Circular 11/79 (Welsh Office Circular 11/79) except Annex A which remains in force.
