Abstract
Draws attention to the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, stating that meetings of local authorities, their committees and their sub-committees should in general be open to the public including the press. Also discusses various aspects of the new law, including confidential and exempt information, members rights of access to documents, disabled persons, and information provided in confidence.
