Technical Note
The first part of this work deals with the properties which need to be quantified or otherwise assessed to ensure compatibility of substrate and repair material when exposed to thermal and moisture cycles of exposure. It reports on an examination of 32 standard test specifications and the identification of 24 others. A table of comparisons is provided. The possibilities for strain-matching, based upon the results of tests to measure shrinkage, wetting expansion, thermal coefficient, modulus of elasticity and creep are discussed. The second part reports a study of the best known methods of shrinkage testing.
