Report
Abstract
Inland dredging operations account for millions of pounds of spending in the UK annually, yet waterway practitioners recognise the significant scope for improvement in current dredging practices. This report includes guidance on good practice with regard to dredging and sediment treatment techniques, including consideration of utility, flexibility, cost and environmental effects, and on the management of dredging operations. It identifies good practice; defines an appropriate approach to project evaluation, task definition and option selection; considers measurement techniques, contractual relationships and relevant health and safety issues; and outlines further research needs.
