Abstract
Concerned with the proper site treatment of reinforcement for concrete construction. The effects of rusting, chemicals, and other contaminants found on sites are reviewed. These include impairment of bond strength, reduction of the reinforcement cross-section, and adverse influence on durability and appearance. Mechanical damage is a further consideration. The Report gives advice on good practice to avoid such problems. It provides guidance on assessing reinforcement that has been affected and describes available remedial treatments.
