Abstract
Design procedures are given for three options: choosing details to avoid conflict and specifying normal accuracy; accepting conflict and using or designing types of joint which will accommodate variability, again specifying normal accuracy; specifying special accuracy where normal variability cannot be accommodated in details or joints. Site procedures discussed include accuracy of the survey and of construction materials and components. An Appendix sets out graphic details of some examples of good design to avoid problems of fit with windows, doors, brickwork, holding down bolts, lifts, fixing to floors, conduits in floors, tiling and masonry. Other Appendices deal with the specification of accuracy requirements, and with making check calculations for accuracy.
