Abstract
Relates to the BCA SHAWL System, comprising a rigid phenolic board faced on one side with a perforated foil and on the other with an unperforated foil, which is bonded to plasterboard. The system is for use as an insulating dry lining to masonry (solid and cavity) walls and the underside of timber or steel rafters in pitched roofs with a pitch of less than 70°, in new and existing domestic buildings, with height restrictions. The key factors assessed include mechanical resistance and stability, safety in case of fire, hygiene, health and the environment, safety and accessibility in use, protection against noise, energy economy and heat retention, sustainable use of natural resources, and durability.
