Abstract

Provides practical guidance for complying with building regulation requirements relating to: fire safety matters within and around buildings. The 5 main requirements cover: means of warning and escape; internal fire spread (linings); internal fire spread (structure); external fire spread; and access and facilities for the fire service. Approved Document B (fire safety) has been published in two volumes. Volume 1 deals with dwellings and blocks of flats and this volume (Volume 2) applies to all other types of building covered by the Building Regulations.

It forms the 2019 edition, incorporating the 2020, 2022, and 2025 amendments and collates the amendments due to come into effect on 30 September 2026 and 2 September 2029.
