Abstract
Presents guidelines for inclusive design within the built environment, drawing on the expertise and technical know-how from the structural engineering perspective. Part 1 covers important factors in inclusive design, including legislation and regulation, fire protection, evacuation, and accessibility, neuroinclusion, adaptability and flexibility, design preparation, brief, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Part 2 focusses on examples and case studies to illustrate design considerations and factors for structural engineering of specific sectors: landscape and the public realm, multi-storey and underground carparks, educational structures, healthcare, bridges, stadia, historic structures, and residential structures.
