Abstract
Details requirements for the assessment and upgrading of existing parapets on highway structures as well as for parapet and safety barrier supports on bridges and retaining walls, and the management of substandard parapets, connections and transitions.
History
Highway Structures and Bridges. Inspection and Assessment. Supersedes CS 461 Assessment and upgrading of in‐service parapets (formerly BA 37/92, IAN 97/07) (HE, 2020). Design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB). Version 0 dated Mar 2020 - replaces BA 37/92 and IAN 97/07. Version 0.1.0 dated January 2023 - changes made to core document: clarification of scope, introduction of area-wide prioritisation tool, alignment of risk outcomes, alert on possibly defective rails, various editorial and compliance corrections, ALARP assessment advice, branding updated.
