Abstract

Cites Functional Standard 2.1 on compartmentation in the Non-Domestic Technical Handbook as the areas over which there is doubt over compliance. Relates to the erection of a hotel comprising two retail units on the lower ground floor, ground floor and eight upper levels. Provides the technical context to explain how the issue has arisen and the key elements of the ministerial response, including interpretation of guidance.
