Abstract
Assists designers, managers and operators of new and existing boiler systems in making improvements in the areas of health and safety and environment. Provides information and best practice relevant to steam boiler plant operation. This revision incorporates up-to-date information and best practices relating to the operation of steam boiler plant; hot water boilers are now covered in a separate document, BG02.

Supersedes BG01 'Guidance on safe operation of boilers' (2011). Edition 2 dated March 2019. Written by the Safety Assessment Federation and the Combustion Engineering Association, in consultation with other boiler industry stakeholders and produced originally in consultation with Health and Safety Executive.
