Abstract
Letter to Chief Executives and Heads of Housing in Scottish Local Authorities and other housing associations concerning the maintenance of buildings with external insulation finished with render or brick. Provides advice and guidance on the key actions for building owners. Annex A looks at structural design of cladding systems, covering which buildings could be affected, buildings with external wall insulation, exposed location, new and existing EWI, maintenance and alterations. Annex B looks at visual inspection and condition survey of rendered EWI systems, what a visual condition survey and how it is conducted, the purpose of visual condition surveys and dealing with problems and defects.
