Abstract
Falling computer costs and the rapid development of new systems now offer a real possibility for improvement in the use and handling of geographic information, in the interests of better management, use of resources, planning and decision-making. This report is concerned with identifying the means whereby these benefits may be secured and any barriers or constraints removed.
