Abstract

Comprises a Statement of Community Involvement setting out how the Department of Environment Northern Ireland will effectively carry out community engagement in the delivery of its planning functions under part 3 of the Planning Act (Northern Ireland) 2011. The SCI aims to promote community participation in the planning process at the earliest opportunity to enable communities to have their say on development proposals and shape the area in which they live.

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland's role was to promote sustainable development principles, responsible land use, air and water quality, and waste management, the reduction of road traffic casualties and ensure effective local government.
