Abstract
Presents an international collaboration for sharing knowledge on good practice for management and design of levees. Covers levees in flood risk management, construction and design, operation and maintenance, inspection, assessment and risk attribution, emergency management and operations, site characterisation and data requirements, physical processes and tools for levee assessment and design. This chapter explores principles, external and internal hydraulic processes, external and internal erosion, slope stability, settlement, seismic analysis, stability of flood walls, breach and flood inundation.
