Building Research Technical Report
Abstract
Sets out the findings of a project to review the processes by which innovative materials, components and structures are assessed for Building Regulations purposes. Nine case studies are presented in summary, and the findings of these are used to develop general conclusions and specific recommendations. It was postulated that the current system may be discriminating against innovations, that unsafe practices might be occurring, and that the administration of applications involving innovations was costly or onerous.
