Abstract

Divided into two parts. The first presents a review of pile selection criteria. The second provides detailed descriptions of specific pile types, and a means by which the suitability of a specific pile type can be assessed. Details of pile size, load-bearing characteristics, and mode of installation are given. The load-bearing characteristics given are relevant for monotonic loading only, and the information given is principally concerned with onshore application.
