Abstract

Standing seam sheeting was originally introduced to avoid the need for surface fixings which were often the cause of leakage and suitability for use at very low pitches was possibly not the main design criteria for the roof sheet. Very low roof pitches introduce more onerous service conditions for the roof sheeting system and these need to be assessed during design to avoid the risk of premature failure, in particular the risks of coating breakdown and condensation.
