Abstract
Doctor's surgery in the Hulme Regeneration Area, so requirements of the Hulme Design Guide apply. Physical security was a prime requirement and led to devices such as the glass block panels and structurally glazed lay-lights. Natural daylight is provided via clerestory glazing with Brise-soleil to minimise solar gain and act as security grille. Roof is a plywood stressed-skin monocoque construction, oversailing the walls, with tapered eaves. Cost comment. Working details of roof. Architects: Hodder Associates.
