New ways of predicting discomfort glare

Abstract
When a range of luminances is too great, people may experience discomfort glare, with possible adverse implications. Three major international models are used to calculate discomfort glare. Studies have shown that they are reasonably correlated, supporting the long-standing commitment of the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage to formulate a single unified model of discomfort glare. This paper summarises the development of the three models and the proposed CIE unified glare rating systems based upon them.
