Abstract

Diller Scofidio + Renfro, in collaboration with Austin-Smith:Lord, has transformed a section of the former London 2012 Olympics Media and Broadcast Centre into the V&A East Storehouse, a radical reinterpretation of museum storage and public engagement. Designed as a working collections centre within the Here East development, the project offers unprecedented public access to over 250,000 objects and 350,000 books, housed in a dramatic, layered spatial arrangement anchored by the 20m-high Weston Collections Hall.
