This technical specification, TS 008:2022+A1:2025, establishes the classification, performance requirements, and testing methods for letter plate assemblies and slide through boxes installed in doors or side panels, addressing both fire and non-fire applications. It defines scope, terms, and classification criteria covering product type, aperture type, security level, corrosion resistance, water penetration, fire resistance, and arson attack protection. The document prescribes general and enhanced security tests, including mail retrieval, manipulation, and fishing, alongside durability, corrosion, and fire performance assessments, ensuring products meet functional and safety standards under simulated attack and environmental conditions. It applies to complete assemblies placed on the market, excluding individual components, and provides guidance on marking, labelling, installation, and reporting, with the 2025 amendment strengthening requirements to support consistent performance and consumer safety.
