Abstract
Provides design principles and rules to calculate the thermal actions on buildings, bridges and other structures, resulting from climatic and operational conditions. Considers: design situations, classification and representation of actions, thermal actions on buildings, on bridges, and on other structures such as industrial chimneys, silos, tanks and cooling towers.
History
This document is considered to be a second generation Eurocode and can be used to prepare for the transition from first to second generation of Eurocodes. The first generation Eurocode should be used as the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS EN 1991-1-5:2003. The National Annex contains national choices for buildings and civil engineering works constructed in the UK.
