Design guidance and specification requirements for non-residential premises to reduce the risks of crimes against the person or property, developed to address emerging criminal methods of attack with references to the Building Regulations and other statutory requirements.

Publisher History

Now known as the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC). The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) existed until 31 March 2015, as an independent professional body coordinating the development of the police service in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The ACPO formed the Crime Prevention Initiatives to manage projects such as Secured by Design, which was established in 1989 and focussed on providing design guidance and security for new and refurbished homes, commercial premises and car parks.
