Abstract
Describes a nursery and community centre serving as a gateway to Pocket Living’s West Green Place in Haringey, north London. The two-storey volume features four equal façades, each incorporating playful canopies that define entrances and outdoor spaces. A curved south-facing canopy shelters the nursery entrance, while a west-facing loggia provides shaded play areas, and a yellow canopy marks the community centre entrance. Exposed interior surfaces, fire-proof treated timber, and a lightweight fibreglass façade ensure durability and ease of maintenance. Galvanised steel canopies enhance structural lightness, while a biodiverse green roof promotes sustainability and improves views for adjacent residents.
