Abstract
Describes the Eleanor Palmer Science Lab in Camden, a model learning space designed as a ‘Wunderkammer’ for scientific discovery and experimentation. Designed for school and community use, the building features functional walls with integrated sinks, work surfaces, and displays, creating a flexible space that opens onto the playground and garden. Triangular roof volumes enhance natural light, ventilation, and spatial height for experiments. Constructed primarily from FSC-certified timber, including sawn spruce beams, plywood linings, and birch furniture, the structure is clad in durable Siberian larch with closely spaced horizontal profiles at low levels to withstand playground impact.
