Abstract

Announces three amendment booklets containing changes to the guidance for Approved Document B, due to come into effect under transitional arrangements in 2025, 2026 and 2029. The 2025 changes relate to Circular 03/2024, come into force 02/03/2025, focus on removing references to BS 476 reaction to fire and new guidance for sprinklers in care homes. The 2026 changes are detailed in Circular 04/2024, come into force 30/09/2026, and relate to the requirements for a second staircase in residential buildings 18m+ (these were indicated by Circular 01/2024, issued in March 2024). The final booklet relates to the 2029 amendments, due to come into force 02/09/2029 and involve the removal of references to BS 476 in relation to fire resistance.
