Abstract
Fully revised to take into consideration a greater understanding of the risks and how to address risks involved with below ground construction and developments in deep construction in congested urban areas, residential basements and improvements in waterproofing materials. Provides guidance and recommendations for preventing water entering externally into structures below ground (either partly or wholly). Focusses on waterproofing barrier materials, watertight construction methods and drained cavity construction.

Supersedes BS 8102:2009. Came into effect 31 March 2022. First published in 1990, superseding CP 102:1973. This document represents a full revision of the standard in the following areas: specifying deep construction in congested urban areas; specifying residential basements and specifying new waterproofing materials and addressing risks associated with these activities.
