Abstract
Provides guidance and examples of documentation for carrying out and recording of fire risk assessments in non-domestic premises. It is intended to provide a structured approach to fire risk assessment for people with knowledge of the principles of fire safety, rather than a guide to fire safety. Sets out the scope of applicability relating to non-domestic premises including peer-to-peer rented accommodation, short-term lets of flats, vacant premises, residential care homes. Does not apply to mixed-use premises with flats on uppermost levels, which fall within the remit of PAS 79-2:2020. Also does not apply to premises during construction phase, single-family private dwellings, shared houses or houses in multiple occupation, or the common parts of blocks of flats or maisonettes, sheltered housing and extra care housing, or supported housing. Looks at concepts of risk and fire hazard, principles of fire risk assessments, responsibility, competence, benchmarks, nine steps fire risk assessment, premises and occupant information, identification of fire hazards and means for elimination or control, assessments for the likelihood of fire, fire protection measures, fire safety management, consequences of fire, fire risk, and formulating an action plan. Also covers periodic review, and different types of fire risk assessment.
