Abstract

Provides guidance for the design of balconies and terraces, including their component parts. Takes into consideration the drainage, fire, daylighting, thermal, ventilation and acoustic requirements for balcony and terrace enclosures. Looks at balcony arrangements including proximity, level above ground and privacy. Also covers wind effects and mitigation measures, service life, inclusive design, structural and mechanical stability, safety, performance in fire, and security.
