Abstract
Provides a guide to those aspects of the planning system which are most likely to be encountered by householders. The general planning principles and the procedures for making a planning application described in this guide apply equally to owners of houses and to freeholders or leaseholders of flats and maisonettes. Looks at whether applying for planning permission is necessary and if so, how this may be done. Also explains other kinds of approval that may be obtained.
