Abstract

Provides guidance on the design and construction of sustainable, low and zero carbon buildings in the UK. Investigates three specific, priority areas of sustainable construction: operational carbon - how operational energy use and associated carbon emissions can be reduced by incorporating appropriate and cost-effective energy efficiency measures and low and zero carbon (LZC) technologies; BREEAM assessments - how ‘Very Good’, ‘Excellent’ and ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM ratings can be achieved at lowest cost; and embodied carbon - quantification of the embodied carbon of buildings particularly focusing on different structural forms. Looks specifically at office buildings.

History

Supersedes version 1.0, 2011.
